Sheridan Long grew up in Princeton, N.J. and Boston, Mass., and happily spent her summers on an island in Maine. When describing the boating and island lifestyle of her youth she laughs, “Considering its marshes and coastal beauty my childhood island does remind me of Daniel Island - without the palmetto trees, of course!”

Prior to moving to Daniel Island, Sheridan was a marketing executive, constantly traveling and relocating from one city to another across the country. Although the job was rewarding, Sheridan tired of each day bringing a different city and new hotel room.

Russ, Sheridan’s husband, grew up in Charleston and his family has called the area home for over 100 years. Sheridan eventually convinced husband Russ that it was time to move back, and the Longs became one of Daniel Island’s early property owners. “When we built our house in 1999, I’m not sure if there were even any stop signs on the island,” says Sheridan. “Now we have a real town with restaurants, shops, medical offices and our own fire station – it’s been an amazing transformation.”

Today, the Longs love calling Daniel Island home and are happily establishing traditions of their own. For their annual “Bourbon and Biscuits” picnic party, they bring family and friends together for Daniel Island’s Symphony in the Park performance. “It’s a wonderful event,” says Sheridan. “A mix of candelabras and sandals - like a mini-Tanglewood or Wolftrap!”

She adds, “Because I have lived in so many different destinations, I appreciate the exciting aspects of moving to a new home. Here, I’m able to reassure my clients, many of whom have not moved in decades, that all will be just fine. This transition is often a biggie, and I look forward to assisting them in making this amazing island town their new home.”
