Major League Soccer Returns to Daniel Island

The Charleston Battery will square off with DC United in a re-match of the 2008 U.S. Open Cup final during the 2009 Carolina Challenge Cup, which will be held at Daniel Island’s Blackbaud Stadium March 7 – 14. United defeated the Battery 2-1 in last year’s national championship game, the match was played at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Third Annual Daniel Island Kids Triathlon
To Take Place on Saturday, June 21

Calling all kids! Grab your swimsuit, Schwinn and sneakers and compete in the third annual Daniel Island Kids Triathlon on Saturday, June 21. Children ages 7 to 14 are invited to compete in the three triathlon events of swimming, biking and running. Participants will also have the opportunity to compete against other children in a kid-specific sprint triathlon with distances tailored to different age groups. Sponsored by the City of Charleston Recreation Department and the Daniel Island Community Fund, the triathlon is a great way for kids to stay healthy and have fun all at the same time.
